What therapy is
Therapy is about team work. The therapist and the client work together to explore and navigate the client's issues. It is a process that involves some hard work and dedication, but which is extremely rewarding. Indeed, it enables people to understand themselves and who they are, teaching them all the tools they need to become their own therapists.
What is CBT?
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It is a therapy based on the idea that our thoughts, emotions and behaviours are all connected. It teaches you to change how you feel by changing how you think.
What therapy is not
Therapy is not a quick fix. While many people think the therapist's job is to figure them out and provide them with quick relief and immediate solutions to their issues, this is not what therapy is about. The responsibility of change is on the client. The therapist is here as a guide. It is the fact that the client is the one in charge of his or her progress that makes therapy so effective.
How much does therapy cost?
Each individual session costs £50. The initial consultation is free of charge.
Can I book an initial consultation?
Absolutely! I offer 30-minute consultations where we will discuss what brings you to therapy, and how to proceed to get you the help you need. Just drop me an email using the form below and I will get back to you.
What happens in therapy
During the initial consultation, we will discuss what brings you here, what you would like to achieve from therapy and whether we both think we can work together. I will tell you a little bit about myself and how I work, and answer any questions you may have.
CBT is often time-limited, and is problem-solving. This is why CBT can be hard work and involves doing tasks between sessions, for you to practice the skills you will learn in therapy and learn to eventually become your own therapist. While I always discuss CBT in the initial consultation, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Just leave me a message in the Contact form and I will get back to you.
